Team Allstate a Perfect 4-0 in Playoffs

The biggest challenge for a Coaching Staff after a huge win is to try and make sure the Team doesn't let down the following day. The win against Schlueter Chevrolet was so emotional that there was a good chance the Boys in Black would take their foot off the gas against the Kitchener Rangers. Luckily our Coaches made sure that was not the case Sunday afternoon at Albert McCormick Arena.

There was a very good chance that the Kitchener Ranger Coaches reminded their team that Team Allstate eliminated them from the Christmas Tournament and that today was a great opportunity for payback. However, as has been the case the last couple of weeks, Team Allstate Insurance got off to a quick start.

Elliott D scored the only goal of the first period off a goal mouth scramble where he poked a loose puck across the goal line to give Team Allstate a lead they would never surrender.

Early in the second period Elliott D picked up a loose puck at the blue line and busted in along the right wing boards and placed a wrist shot in the far left corner of the net to make it 2-0. Ty C. scored next on a breakaway and Wes S capped off an end to end rush with a forehand backhand deke to push the score to 4-0 after the second period.

In the 3rd period Captain Joe V. scored on a beautiful breakaway to make it 5-0 and give Team Allstate an almost insurmountable lead. That feeling of comfort probably explains why the Boys in Black sat back and let the Kitchener Rangers attack in waves for the last 5 minutes of the third period.

Goaltender Nolan S filled in for Jack L admirably and made some awesome saves, but with the team in front of him looking tired and sloppy, Nolan S couldn't stop them all and before the final buzzer the Kitchener Rangers managed to pot 3 goals and make the final score 5-3, a much more flattering score than they deserved, but the Rangers deserve credit for never giving up.

The win moves Team Allstate Insurance to 4-0 in the Playoffs and improves their current winning streak to 10 in a row and 12 games without a loss.

The next playoff game is Saturday March 9/13 at 7:00 am versus Skills Plus at the Waterloo Recreation Complex.

This reporter is now signing off, I will be heading off to Florida to cover the Bikini Olympics in Orlando and will not be filing any reports for the last 3 playoff games of the season. Logan will be accompanying me on the trip. We will be returning in time for the season ending tournament weekend of March 22-24/13.

Good luck boys!
