Team Allstate Follows Blueprint to Beat Architects

The Boys in Black had a fantastic Christmas Tournament and now it was time to see if they could carry that momentum into a Regular Season Game. This was the first match up of the year between Team Allstate and BJC Architects, however they were not a totally unknown entity as the teams have shared many practices this year.
Before the game Coach Joe and Coach Ray spent a few minutes reminding the boys that the Christmas Tournament was a lot of fun and that they would like to see all the good habits continue. The funniest moment of the pre game speech happened when Devin I. asked Coach "What team are we playing tonight?" only to get the following answer back " I don't know, what ever team is dumb enough to take us on". That confident statement was a foreshadowing of just how dominant Team Allstate would be in tonight's game.
There was a moment before the game that reminded us all that the boys have been in vacation mode for the last 2 weeks. One player forgot a neck guard, another his skates and jersey and yet another his helmet. It was looking like we might be a few men down before the game even started. But thanks to extra equipment and quick driving parents, all the boys were on the ice for the start of the game.
Jack L. was back between the pipes after playing out for the entire Christmas Tournament and Nolan S. was really excited to get a crack at playing forward.
Team Allstate got off to a fantastic start when Captain Joe V. broke down the left wing boards and took a shot, he picked up his rebound, skated behind the net and fed a beautiful pass out front to Elliott D. for the first goal of the game. Soon afterwards Joe V. picked up a loose puck in the corner, stepped out into the slot and scored making it 2-0. Later in the period, Captain Joe V. skated in alone on a breakaway, the BJC goalie made a great save but Joe snuck the rebound through his legs to make it 3-0 Team Allstate.
Early in the second period Team BJC Architects got on the board to make it 3-1 when a wrist shot squeaked through the pads of Jack L., but that is as close as the Architects got to "building" any momentum. With just over a minute left in the 2nd period, Joe V. completed his hat trick with a nice shot from the slot. Wesley S. and Nolan S. rounded out the scoring in the third period for a final score of 6-1 for Team Allstate.
This win gets the Boys in Black back to the .500 mark with a 4-4-1 record but they don't have much time to savour the victory as Team Libro Financial is next in line on Saturday January 5/13. The coaches reminded the boys at the end of the game that Libro Financial will most certainly be looking for payback after Team Allstate knocked them out of the Christmas Tournament last week.
