Wolves Win the 43rd annual Big Nickel
This past weekend the Wolves won the prestigious 22 team Big Nickel tournament in Sudbury, Ont with a 5-3 win over Ontario #1 ranked Ajax Pickering Raiders. The Wolves stayed perfect with a 4-0 round robin with wins over the Toronto Nationals, Southern Tier Admirals, New Liskeard Cubs, and Kingston Jr. Gaels. The Wolves dominated the Nats again in the quarter finals taking that 4-1 with a large advantage in shots. The semis saw the Wolves continue their strong play defeating the Central Ontario Wolves 6-0 to advance to the finals that afternoon. In a very fast and tight final, the Wolves built a 4-1 lead and held on the beat the Raiders 5-3 and win the championship. The Wolves' Colin Slattery took home tournament MVP honours.
