Last weekend (January 12-14) the U13AA Wolves travelled to Toronto to participate in the Toronto Aeros Winter Challenge Tournament.
The Wolves started off the tournament with a 2-1 win over the Ajax-Pickering Raiders and followed up with a 2-1 win over the Regina Assumpta Panthers both games featured excellent goaltending and strong defensive plays. The team’s offense took over on Day 2 with 4-2 wins over the Vaughan Panthers and Brampton 45s. The four wins secured a spot for the team in the championship game on Sunday and a rematch against Brampton 45s.Brampton came out fired up and took a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd period. With six minutes left in the 2nd period, the Wolve cut Brampton’s lead in half. Following a successful 5 on 3 penalty kill, the Wolves remained calm and kept plugging away. With 2-minutes left in the 3rd period, the coaching staff called a timeout and with a plan, the Wolves tied the game. The excitement in the game turned up with both teams having a couple excellent scoring chances. The game was sent to a 3 on 3 overtime and after 2 minutes the Wolves struck again to capture the gold. Congratulations to all the members of the U13AA Wolves for a very successful and perfect weekend in Toronto.
