Waterloo Wolves Get Gold!!!
The Wolves traveled to North York this weekend to participate in the North York Knights Challenge Cup.
In Friday's game the Wolves defeated Scarborough Ice Raiders 5-0 to start the tournament on a high note.
Saturday morning the Wolves were matched up against the Leaside Flames and were leading the game 3-2 heading into the 3rd period, they found another gear and won 7 -2. The Wolves second game on Saturday was against the Markham Islanders. We came out fast and built a lead but ran into some penalty trouble throughout the game, the Wolves played a controlled game and won 4-1 to finish in 1st place in the round robin.
Sunday morning's semi-final game found the Wolves matched up against Leaside once again. The Wolves came out flying and never looked back. An impressive 7-0 win for Waterloo gave them a spot in the finals.
In Sunday's championship, the Wolves played the Toronto Avalanche who were also undefeated heading into the final. The Wolves struck first and led 1-0 in a back and forth game until the 3rd period when the Avalanche tied the score. The Wolves would not be denied, scoring 3 times and shutting the game down, winning 4-1. The Wolves grew as a team and impressed their coaches all weekend long with their performance! All your hard work and dedication to the team is paying off.
