Congratulations to the coaches and the players on a very successful weekend at the Woolwich Fall Memorial.
For the 2nd year in a row the 06 Wolves went undefeated in this tournament. As the weekend progressed we could see the competition would be fierce, with some great teams in the tournament.
Our weekend started out with a very early start, 7.15 am against a very good Woolwich team this was the rematch game from last year's final. After a sluggish start by both squads the Wolves got on the board 1st and held on for 3-0 win
Game 2 saw the Wolves take on a pesky Stoney Creek Warriors team. Waterloo took a 3-1 advantage before Stoney Creek tied it up in a short span. Try as they may the Wolves couldn't get the go ahead goal, final score 3-3.
Game 3 was a dominant performance by the Wolves as they were able to get a 5-1 win against a feisty Burlington Eagles team. Waterloo had a 5-0 lead for most of the game before Burlington squeaked one past the Wolves team.
Game 4 (Semi Final) was a rematch from the morning game against the same Burlington Eagles team, Burlington came to prove the morning game was a fluke as they came out fast and furious against the Wolves, but the Wolves prevailed winning 3-0 and setting up a rematch to defend their title against Stoney Creek.
Game 5 (Championship) The Wolves came out flying from the start of the warm up, even scoring in the first 30 seconds of the game. However Stoney Creek battled back to take a 2-1 lead. A much needed goal to tie things up was scored by Stoney Creek on their own net. This seem to fire up the Wolves as the realized the game was back in their hands and the speed of the Wolves took over, scoring 4 unanswered goals to retain the Title of Woolwich Fall Memorial 06 Division Champs.
