Novice Red Takes it On the Chin in Tier 2 Debut
Brantford 2 handed the Novice Red Wolves a rude awaking to Tier 2 with a 10-1 spanking at the Wayne Gretzky Centre.
The came out of the gate strong and jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first shift as Gavin S., Wyatt M. and Colten T. put pressure on the 99ers that resulted in Colten whacking in the first goal of the game. The Wolves would battle hard in the first but the tide started to turn in the middle of the first with Brantford tying and then taking the lead 2-1. In the second the Wolves succumbed to the speed and strength of Brantford as the 99ers racked up four more unanswered goals to take control of the game 6-1. The 99ers would add another four goals in the third although the Wolves had moments where they showed they could compete with the older Brantford squad. Mike B. took home the miner's hat for strong play keeping Brantford away from the net, and Grayson S. took the lunchpail for working hard every shift and using his teammates.
