Minor Atom House League Select Parent Information
Hi Parents!

The coaching staff is quickly getting things under way and organized for what we believe will be a great season! I have put together some information that I hope will help to answer any questions that you may have.

General Housekeeping

  1. If you haven’t registered your child for the Select Try-outs, you must do so before the first try-out. Unfortunately, you cannot register at the time of try-out. If you don’t pre-register, your skater will not be allowed on the ice.

  2. Players must attend all required try-outs in order to be considered a candidate for the team.

  3. We are looking for 15 skaters and 2 goalies.

  4. Our home ice is Sunday nights at 5pm at Albert McCormick. These ice times may either be a practice or a game.

  5. We are looking to play approximately 16 league games with 8 at home and 8 on the road.

  6. It is our hope to hold a minimum of 10 practices with an option to hold additional practices based on ice availability and team budget.

  7. Depending on the amount of players that try-out, will dictate if we may be required to make any releases. We will provide an update to parents after our first try-out.

  8. We will be attempting to register in 2 tournaments. There will also be a season ending Alliance tournament in April.

  9. Select fees are an additional $160.00 and a team budget will be presented at our Parent’s Meeting to be held once the team is selected.

Try-out Times

Try-outs for the Minor Atom Select team will be on the following dates:

  • Saturday, October 3 -5:00PM-6:00PM (Albert East)

  • Sunday, October 4 -7:30AM-8:30AM (Albert West)

  • Sunday, October 4 -5:00PM-6:00PM (Albert East)

What characteristics are we looking for in a player?

  1. A desire to learn. Everyone develops at different paces. Regardless of your skill level, we are looking for hockey players that want to improve both as an individual and a team player.

  2. A positive attitude. Hockey is a game full of highs and lows. We are going to win some games this year and we are going to lose some games. Staying positive in the face of adversity is not only a strong characteristic in the world of athletics but also in the real world.

  3. Players who respect the game of hockey and everyone who is involved in it.

  4. Players who bring a smile to the rink. Remember, hockey is a game and games are supposed to be fun.

What else are we looking for?

Players who are willing to: bring a strong work ethic, never stop competing and are willing to play their role as asked by the coach, with dedication and determination.

If anyone has any questions in regards to the try-outs and the upcoming season, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

Keep your stick on the ice!
