A Tale of a Tournament, Team Bonding and Good Cheer!
The Waterloo Minor Atom Select Wolves competed in their first tournament of the season this week-end in London at The Dan Pulham Memorial Tournament.

Although the boys did not bring home the hardware, they brought home with them memories of some great hockey games, getting to know each other better, bellies full of laughs and wet bathing suits!

Prior to the start of the first game, the players found out that at the end of each game, one player would be rewarded with the Team Hardhat for their contribution to the game. The player who would receive the hat would be chosen based on hard work, team-play as well as smart play. Not only would they get to wear the hat until the start of the next game but they would also get to wear the 'C'  and be the Captain for the following game. The coaches rewarded Holden B. with the 'C' for the game based on his previous game efforts.

The boys fought extremely hard in all 3 games, right from the drop of the puck Friday morning.

Game 1 saw the team arrive fully focused and they battled hard but ended up on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat to the team from Erindale. As a result of his efforts, Matthew V. was honored with the Hardhat and the 'C. A special mention to Ethan J. for his strong effort between the pipes.  He faced many shots and kept us in the game. Great job!

Game 2 saw the same intensity and work ethic when the puck dropped against the Burlington Bulldogs. A 3-1 loss stung a little as the boys never stopped battling and deserved a better result. This game saw Edu O. elevate his game into receiving the Hardhat and the 'C' for the next game. Just like the first game, our goalie Jack B. battled hard but just couldn't stop them all.

Here is where we paused for some pool-time, bonding and good cheer! A huge thanks to Anthony and our Cruise Director -Julie for tons of fun and laughs.

Game 3 saw everything we as coaches asked the kids to do all week-end come together! We asked the boys to compete hard, never stop skating, apply puck pressure and shoot at every opportunity. All our efforts were rewarded with a 5-1 win over Victoria Village. We scored first, never stopped skating and filled the net. Everyone contributed and although the coaches wanted to hand out multiple Hardhats, we could only reward one player. That player was Lucas D. Helping make the decision a tough one were: Ben G, Ashton C, Jack W, Ethan A, Miles C, Keelan R, Justin L-W, Owen F, Enoch B, and Gabriel P.

Great job boys!
