Wolves Come From Behind To Beat Brantford 3-2
The Waterloo Wolves traveled to the newly renovated Gretzky Center in Brantford to take on the 99ers on Nov 11th.
The game started off with a scary moment when Brantford got a breakaway off the initial face off. Ethan Bullovas came up strong stopping the breakaway chance and keeping the game scoreless.
Brantford got the first goal at 14:24 when a puck turnover below the goal line led to a loose puck in front of the net. The puck snuck into the far post along the ice giving Brantford the 1-0 lead at the end of the 1st period. Total shots were 7 Brantford - 8 Wolves.
In the 2nd period Brantford scored first after a failed clearing attempt on the Powerplay. The puck went in low from the top of the circle giving Brantford a 2-0 lead with 14 minutes remaining in the 2nd. The Wolves answered back late in the 3rd when Drew Gerth scored on the Powerplay assisted by Kyle Schumilas and Carter Buehlow. This ended the period at 2-1 Brantford. Total shots on net were 12 Wolves - 5 Brantford in the 2nd period.
In the 3rd period the Wolves came out strong looking to equalize. Kyle Bordessa scored at 11:00 assisted from Kyle Schumilas and Drew Gerth. This tied the game up at 2-2.
The Wolves kept battling and scored the go ahead goal when Kyle Schumilas ripped one five hole squeaking through the Brantford goalie at 5:38. The goal was assisted by Justin Labrie and Kyle Bordessa. The Wolves played solid defensively the rest of the period holding the 3-2 lead after being down 2-0 mid way through the 2nd period. Total shots in the 3rd period were 7 Wolves - 6 Brantford.
The Wolves look to take this momentum into the Waterloo Memorial Tournament this weekend to take home the cup.
