Schedule & Results, Major Peewee, 2013-2014, Select (Waterloo Minor Hockey)

We went into this game knowing that if we wanted a chance to advance to the semi-finals we had to beat North York - the one team in our division that had not yet lost a game. We reminded the team of the outstanding effort they gave last Sunday in our game at Cambridge. 

The boys came out hard, carrying the play to North York and creating a number of good scoring chances. North York wasn't about to roll over and kept the pressure up counter attacking, testing our backchecking and our goaltending. By the end of the 2nd period it was clear that this was going to be a close game. 
Just over a minute into the 3rd period North York managed to come up with a goal on a shot that bounced off about 5 players before rolling through traffic and into the net. Our team could have called it a night right then, but not this time. When asked "What do we do when the other team scores?" the unanimous answer was an emphatic "Get It Back!" With all 3 lines giving an outstanding effort, we kept them rolling right to the end but couldn't quite get that tying goal. 

This was the kind of game I was looking for when I said that if we:
1) Work Hard
2) Play Our Game
3) Have Fun

then we go home proud no matter what the final score is.
