This was our first regular season game since the Exhibition Game in Cambridge November 29th and the coaching staff was a little concerned that the confidence of our AtoMc Lightning Team might be a little bit rattled. Add to that, another game scheduled for the crack of stupid and you have all the makings for a rough outing.

It is hard to explain sometimes what Coaches sense before a game, other than to say there are different kinds of energy in a dressing room game in and game out. A coach can almost predict how his/her team will play based on that "sixth sense". Well, continuing that movie theme, our coaching staff saw a room full of "dead people"!

7:00am games are always rough, but we had quite a few players rolling in a bit late still in their PJ's looking like they could easily sprawl out in the dressing room and finish that incredible sleep they had going before Mom or Dad woke them up. At that point, we knew we had our work cut out for us in the game vs AtoMc Yellow.

The boys looked a step or two behind all game and that cost us early as we fell down 1-0 just 1:30 into the first period. Things looked like they might turn around quickly as we responded 1 minute later with a beauty goal from Ty C with assists from Tyler H and Corey S. However, for most of this game we could not gain or hold any momentum and just a minute after we tied it up, they scored to make it 2-1 and then again in the final minute of the first period to put AtoMc Lightning down 3-1 after the first.

Liam B started the game, but didn't really get the support he needed from the rest of the team and when Jackson M took over half way through the 2nd period it was still 3-1 Yellow. With just over a minute left in the 2nd, a puck got deflected up into the air off a great Jackson M save and proceeded to drop into the goal to make it 4-1 after 2 periods. Coach Joe called the boys over to the bench between periods and told them they were standing around watching the other team play, if we could just start skating and playing our style of hockey, we could get back into this game.

The AtoMc Lightning game out flying early in the 3rd and just a minute and a half in, Ty C sniped his second goal of the game from Devin I and Grady S, but that was as close as the boys could get and the final buzzer sounded with the scoreboard reading 4-2 for our opponents.

The McDonald's Golden Jersey was awarded to Dustin K who had a fabulous game. It has been fun to watch Dustin grow and improve this season. He is much more confident skating with the puck and he is fearless going into the corners. He really did a great job clearing the puck from our zone and also managed to keep the puck in their end many times.

The next game game is Sunday December 8 at 9:30am vs AtoMc Purple at the Albert McCOrmick Arena.
