Weekend of Offensive Firepower
Submitted By Steve McGeown on Mon 12 17, 12
When you score 18 goals in two games... something is clicking.  The Waterloo AAA Minor Atom Wolves had a very successful and prolific weekend beating both the Brantford 99ers 10-3 on Saturday and then the Sun County Panthers 8-3 on Sunday.

The previous week was also a busy one as the Wolves lost a hard fought game against a quick Markham Waxers team by the score of 1-0.  The Wolves also played London Junior Knights on the previous Sunday and tied 3-3 after coming out quickly and establishing a 3-0 lead

The Wolves came out flying against the Brantford 99ers Saturday and had a quick 4-0 lead after only 5 minutes into the first period. They did not let up and continued to press throughout the game with quick passes and strong overall team play.  Both Kyle Maloney and Jake Thompson potted hat-tricks with Owen Parsons scoring two. Singles went to Preston Young and Cooper Way. Assists were earned by Cooper Way who had 3, Jake Thompson, Brayden Hislop, and Jake MacDonald who each had 2, and Cal Reesor, Jake Anderson, Owen Parsons, Jake MacDonald, Ryan McGeown, and Preston Young all had single assists.

On Sunday, the Wolves did not get off to the same type of start as they did on Saturday, but were again solid in beating the Panthers.  Spencer Young had a hat-trick. Single goal scorers were Kyle Maloney, Owen Parsons, Brayden Hislop, Cooper Way and Jake MacDonald. Jake Thompson also had 4 assists, while Cooper Way had 3 assits, Jaxson Murray had 2, Kyle Maloney, Austin Stemmler, Brayden Hislop, Owen Parsons, and Spencer Young had 1 each.

The previous week was also a busy one as the Wolves lost a hard fought game against a quick Markham Waxers team by the score of 1-0. Misha Stastna and the defense were stellar throughout the game.

The Wolves also played London Junior Knights on the previous Sunday and tied 3-3 after coming out quickly and taking a 3-0 lead. Jake MacDonald, Jake Thompson and Jaxson Murray each had 1 goal while Kyle Maloney and Owen Parsons had 1 assist.

The Wolves continue to lead the East Division of AAA Aliance with an impressive league record of 16 wins, 1 loss and 4 ties.
