Welcome to IP/6
Hello everyone and welcome to the Waterloo Minor Hockey IP/6 program. For important association-wide updates, such as COVID-19 information, please view the News Articles on the home page.

For program specific information, I will attempt to cover the important details here, but you can reach out to me any time at [email protected].

First and foremost, I will be looking for volunteers again this year to help out on the ice. Based on current registration numbers, it looks like we will have three teams in the IP/6 age division. I will be one of the head coaches for the group that my son is in, which means I will be looking for 2 more head coaches, plus some on ice volunteers in each group to help out.

At this age, practices run best with many small group stations, which means we need a large number of assistant coaches. If you are interested, please reach out to me at [email protected].  For now, I can share that practices will take place on Friday evenings and on Sunday mornings, at either RIM Park or Albert McCormick.  More details will be available once I get the schedule sent to me in the coming weeks.

Practices will be a combination of skills sessions run by Eric Calder/Skills Plus, powerskating sessions run by qualified instructors, and practices designed by Hockey Canada and facilitated by our head coaches.  While we don't have an evaluation schedule yet, they will likely take place early October. This will be used to divide players into three teams based on their skill level. Doing this will provide the best possible learning experience to each player.  I look forward to seeing you all again and am looking forward to getting started and back on the ice.
