WSN - Sports Centre update...
It appears there won't be a hockey stoppage this year for the WMHL as the parents agreed to the leagues terms over the summer allowing the regular season to begin Oct 13 (unlike other leagues in our nation). This great cooperation has allowed the players to have their fall training camps over the last 3 weeks and the rookies this year have been very impressive.
When asked about the newcomers, Chad the league convenor said he's been " blown away by the dedication of the kids and their great work ethic " he then added " I think we are going to have some very exciting games this year and the kids are going to have a fun time ".
All of the rookies that attended the fall training camps have been chosen by one of the six teams and each team will be holding their first practices this weekend at RIM Park in Waterloo.
Pete C the equipment manager has done another outstanding job by ensuring the rookies have their hockey sweaters for the team practices. One source who didn't want to be named said " i'm not sure Waterloo would even have a hockey league without this type of hard work "
Chad is in his first and final year as convenor of this division, when we ask about an extension the league replied "we have a wait and see approach to extensions".
