Details on the U10BB Tryout Process for 2024/25
Hi Parents,
My name is
Scott Leatherdale and I am the head coach for the 2024/25 U10 BB team. I am
looking forward to the upcoming Player Evaluations and wanted to share some
information with parents and players.
The
evaluation team will consist of myself and my Assistant Coaches [Jeff Bentley, Troy
Wilson, and Andrew Yantzi (non-parent goalie coach)]. Please note, the remaining
bench/team staff positions are to be filled after tryouts.

Proposed Evaluation Schedule: The current
proposed evaluation schedule is as follows:
1) May 5th,
8:00am-9:30am, Skills and Drills, Waterloo Rec Complex
2) May 7th,
5:30pm-7:00pm, Black vs. Gold Intersquad Game, Waterloo Rec Complex
3) May 9th,
5:30pm-7:00pm, Exhibition Game vs. Cambridge, Waterloo Rec Complex
4) May 10th,
5:30pm-7:00pm, Exhibition Game vs. Cambridge, Hespler Arena 2 (Cambridge)
5) May 11th, 10:00am-11:30am,
Exhibition Game vs. Woolwich Wildcats, Woolwich Memorial Centre (Elmira)
Player Releases: Player
releases will be made following each of the evaluation sessions unless
otherwise stated. The names of players progressing to the next stage of the
evaluation process will be posted on the team website after each evaluation
session in a timely fashion.
For
Parents: Come to tryouts with a positive attitude and encouraging support for
your player. BB hockey is focused on player development, so the coaching staff has
position and player specific characteristics we are looking for in creating a
final roster. While skill is important, it is not the only determining factor
in our evaluations.
For
Players: Be ready to try your best, to listen to the on-ice coaches, and to
have fun.
