Tryouts:All players will be evaluated based on on the individual player’s ability, attitude, physical and mental potential. There will be outside evaluators who have all played, coached, and evaluated experience at the AAA/AA, JR, College and Pro levels of hockey.
The team will be made up of 17 players; 9 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders.
Commitment:
Participation in any competitive sport or activity such as hockey, requires considerable commitment (both in terms of time and money), dedication and sometimes sacrifice on the part of not only the volunteer coaches and players, but also their families. In order to meet the needs of a team, a participant’s (coach’s and player’s) family may be asked to sacrifice vacation time and other activities. Difficulties with commitment and dedication are accentuated when a participant is involved in more than one competitive sport or activity. The Association respects the varying needs of families. In return for their commitment and dedication, the volunteers expect a corresponding level of commitment and dedication from the players, especially at crucial points in the season (for example, during March break when the ALLIANCE playoff schedule continues uninterrupted).
The tryout schedule is located in the calendar section of this site. The first tryout session (Saturday Apr 27th) will be Skills and drills with small area games. The second session (Sunday Apr 28th) will have the players divided up into Black vs Gold for an intersquad game.
After each day of tryouts, there will be a release of players. The players progressing to the next stage will be posted on this U12 AA/A WMHA website, each evening by 11pm. Final roster will be posted no later than Saturday May 4th. An information parent meeting will be posted in the week to two weeks following.
The 2024/25 season will consist of:
3 scheduled ice practices per week. Additional dryland/gym practices to be scheduled throughout each week will also be determined.
Four Tournaments are tentatively planned:
- Oct 11-13 - Best of the Best AA - Halton Hills, ON
- Nov 22-24 - Guelph Power Play AA - Guelph, ON
- Nov 29-Dec 1 - CCM Nations Cup AA - Detroit, MI USA
- Feb 14-17 - Irish South Bend Cup AA, Notre Dame University - South Bend, Indiana, USA
