Wolves raise $1,358.10 in support of 18th Man fundraiser!

On Sunday November 3, 2019 the Waterloo Wolves MD minor peewee team helped support One 4 Another charitable organization with their 18th man fundraiser.  The wolves’ 18th man (player) is John, an 8 year old boy who lives in Uganda.  He was born with a club foot, and unfortunately his family is not able to pay for his surgery.  Survival and opportunities in Uganda require the use of two pain-free feet.  The cost of the surgery is $1,200.

The boys and parents didn’t hesitate when asked to be part of this fundraiser.  Flyers were made to send around the neighbourhood, and a post on facebook helped to let everyone know that the boys would be raking leaves to support John, and help pay for his surgery.

It was a cold, crisp day – and the boys enthusiastically knocked on doors and raked leaves for those who were willing to have the wolf pack clean up their front and back yards.  A huge thank you to the neighbours in the Beechwood area who were so generous, and kind to the boys.  They were able to raise $1,358.10 in just a few hours!!!

A care package to John will be sent including our team picture.  The money above the goal will be used to buy John’s family some essential supplies for Christmas (i.e. maize, rice, cooking oil, salt, soap, etc).

Thanks to all the organizers, hot chocolate and cookie providers, and the warmth and generosity of all those involved.  So proud to be part of the team!!
