Major Atom Select Strikes Gold!
The team travelled to the Bradford Blue and Gold Tournament this week-end and skated away with the Championship Trophy.
The boys started out a little slow in their first game of the tournament against Cambridge and finished in a 2-2 tie.
After some strong soul-searching the team re-grouped in their 2nd game and came away with an impressive 7-1 win over the Aurora Tigers.
Game 3 against the Amesbury Avalanche was another strong effort that ended in a 5-0 win.
The Championship Game was a rematch against the Cambridge Hawks.
Many hard battles were fought and eventually Waterloo was able to draw the first goal on a power play marker. Cambridge never gave up and was able to eventually draw even. The game went back and forth until Waterloo was finally able to take the lead late in the 3rd. Once that happened, the defensive wall went up and Cambridge could not break through it. An empty netter sealed the deal to make it a 3-1 game.
Every player found a way to contribute to the overall success of the team this week-end.
