Welcome:
The coaching staff of the 2012-2013 Minor Atom Select Waterloo Wolves would like to welcome all of the players trying out for this season's team. We look forward to meeting everyone this Saturday and getting the season rolling.
We just wanted to send a quick message reminding everyone that tryouts will be taking place
THIS WEEKEND (Sept.29 and 30) at the Albert McCormick Arena. If you have not registered for the tryout sessions please contact the Director of Rec Hockey Paul Drennan (
[email protected] or go to the WMHA Office at RIM Park).
DO NOT arrive without registering as we will not be able to let your son/daughter take the ice for the tryout.
Tryout Information:
We will be selecting our team not based entirely on the player's skill but also based on their ability to contribute to the team environment. At the end of the day we are all here to work hard, have fun and help each other grow as one united unit.
A special note to those unable to attend both Saturday tryouts, please inform us if this is the case so we can closely monitor your son/daughter in order to fairly evaluate them.
Session 1-Albert McCormick West: Saturday September 29- 8:30am to 9:30am
We will begin the tryout process by conducting several drills where we will evaluate each players specific skill set. We will then break the participants into teams and monitor their skills in a scrimmage. After the first try out session we may make our first round of cuts in order to reduce the number of players to make evaluation more manageable.
The session 2 roster will be posted on this website.
Session 2-Albert McCormick West: Saturday September 29- 4:30pm to 5:30pm
The second session will look very similar to the first as we will conduct both drills and evaluate each player in an actual game environment. However, we will be breaking the players into positional groups so that we can better evaluate their positional skills.
At the completion of the second session we will post the final tryout list. These participants will be asked to return to session 3.
Session 3-Albert McCormick West: Sunday September 30- 7:30am to 8:30am
The final tryout session will begin with a brief warmup followed by a scrimmage where we will make our final evaluations and trim our active roster down to 17 players and 3-5 alternate players. We will meet with each remaining player to let them know of our decision following this session.
Following the third tryout we will also have a parent/player meeting in the Beaupre Room at Albert McCormick Arena where we will introduce the coaching staff and discuss our expectations as well as the financial aspect of the team.
Additional information regarding our team and the tryout sessions will be made available in the form of a handout at the tryout sign-in desk.
We are excited to get our team formed and we look forward to spending the next season with some of you as we learn and win together!
