Novice Timber Wolves @ USA Silver Stick Tournament - Game 1
The Wolves start the tournament with a convincing 6 - 2 win over the home team SCS Saints.

The boys showed up with determination and focus as they dominated the offensive zone all game long. Cole Hunsberger opened up the team scoring with an end to end rush up the ice, dodging the opposition and finally shelfing one past the goalie. Seamus-Riley McKay showed excellent fore-checking deep in the Saints zone as he stripped the puck from the forward and then backhanded a pass to the blue line. Jake Patterson rifled a shot giving the team the go ahead goal at the 4:20 mark of the first. Thomas Chan carried the puck along the boards, then passed the puck over to Declan Uniac who passed it right back to Thomas catching the goalie off guard. Thomas slide the puck along the ice and into the wide open net making it 3 - 2 for the Wolves. Jacob Craig shut the door for the rest of the game making a couple of key saves late in the game.

In the second, Thomas was at it again as he picked up the pass from Matthew Johnstone and fired the puck high glove side giving the team a two goal lead and some breathing room. Right from the faceoff, Cole Hunsberger took the puck and performed a nifty deke further padding the lead. Part way through the second, Finn Skuterud and Griffin Beddis were battling for the puck in front of the Saints net. Finn flipped the puck over to Griffin. The puck would not settle down properly, so Griffin just decided to lift the rolling puck just under the crossbar giving the boys a 6 - 2 lead.

The defense shut down the Saints in the third period not allowing many shots on net, cleared the front of the net and kept the Saints along the boards.

Jake Patterson was voted the hard worker of the game for his goal, excellent defense and several quality scoring opportunities all game long.

Excellent start boys. Keep up the hard work ethic.
