The Timber Wolves earned themselves a spot in the semi finals with a 9 - 1 win over the Whitby Wildcats this morning.
Jake Patterson opened the scoring with an end to end rush along the boards as he backhanded the puck high glove side two minutes into the period. Cole Hunsberger scored mid way thru the first on a snapshot high stick side. Griffin Beddis padded the lead on a wrap around goal and then Jacob Stark buried a loose puck in front of the net making it 4 - 0 after one period of play.
Thomas Chan and Cole Hunsberger worked the give and go play as Thomas scored on the open side. Jake Patterson picked up the puck and rushed in to score his second goal of the game and giving his team a 6 - 0 lead. Declan Uniac cut across the middle of the hash marks and rifled the puck top corner.
Jacob Craig notched his 7th shutout of the season as he handed the goaltending reigns over to teammate Austin Zappitelli. The boys continued to work the puck around and play a solid defensive game.
Thomas Chan scored twice in the third period giving him a hatrick on the day. Great work boys. Everyone worked hard. The scoresheet did not reflect any assists but we know that there were many as the puck was passed around by all the defensemen and forwards. Thomas Chan made a sweet deke to the left, then went right as he passed the puck over Jacob Stark. We all saw it Thomas. Excellent stick work and most definitely, Lady Bing material.
Matthew Johnstone received the hardest worker helmet for his great defensive work and several back check diving saves to stop Whitby.
Thomas Chan gets the player assist of the game for his almost "un-noticed" pass.
Good luck in the semi finals later today.
