Hockey Blog by Gina Wolfe
Game 6 saw the Lightning take on AtoMc White. It was a fast and very eventful game! 46 seconds into the game #7 B.
Uniac was sent to the box for tripping. White took advantage and scored on the power
play at 7:12. Yellow tied it up 1-1
when #4 L. Cabral passed it out to the point and #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe scored scored 5 hole,
through the crowd of players.
Goalie #1 C. Carter insured White wouldn’t score again in the 1st with his beauty glove and brilliant break away saves. Shortly into the 2nd period #7 B. Uniac made a great cross ice pass to #4 L. Cabral. Cabral scored on the wrap around to make it 2-1 Lightning at 8:06. At 7:03, #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe went to the box for body checking. The superb hustling back & defensive plays by #11 J. Weber kept White from scoring during the power play. The second period was exciting and the defensive play of the lightning was keeping White off the scoreboard, #15 M. Williamson was digging hard and clearing the puck. The fans watched some great attempts on net throughout the 2nd period including those from #4 L. Cabral, #14 K.Curtis-Wolfe and #10 B. Barnes, but it was #7 B. Uniac who made it 3-1 for Lightning with a far side, top shelf goal at 2:49. White tried to respond but #1 C. Carter’s glove was just too quick. In the closing minute of the 2nd period, #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe was called for a tripping penalty at 53 seconds, but it was White that picked up the final penalty of the period, for hooking with 16 seconds remaining. The 3rd period was a nail bitter! At 6:30 White closed the gap making it 3-2. At 2:33 #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe collected his 3rd penalty, this time for hooking and was subsequently ejected from game. White capitalized on the situation with 1:49 left in the game and tied it up 3-3. However, not willing to give up on the game, #4 L. Cabral sped into the opposing teams end, and shot low and hard for the game winning, break away goal at 1:05. Lightning won 4-3. Great job by all Lightning players all weekend! Keep up the hard work boys! It’s paying off.
