Marshall Law Declared: Win One Over the Cyclones
Marshall Nicholls laid down the law.  Somewhere between breakfast cereal and starting in between the pipes, he just decided he wanted the "W" against the undefeated Hamilton Cyclones and pretty much stole it for his team on this day.  Waterloo Timber Wolves rallied around him for an incredible 3-2 victory over a very good team.

The first two periods saw an incredibly tight checking affair, with only single digit shots registered for each side, but some big time saves required by Marshall to keep it tied at zeros.  Waterloo Timber Wolves won individual battles against good Cyclone players all game long.  It was only in the third period that the Hamilton Cyclone onslaught really got into gear, finally netting them a goal.

This Waterloo Timber Wolves team, known for character, came storming back only 9 seconds later.  Owen Parsons won the draw forward to Ryan McGeown, who then deftly sent Owen in on a give-and-go with speed, and Owen rocketed a top hand shelf blast over the glove.  On the same shift, 11 seconds after, Ryan McGeown slipped a pass into Owen who fired a seeing eye goal from just inside the blue line that I'm sure Owen "used the force" on.  That's why a shot at net is never a bad play boys.

Rattled for a bit after, Cyclones re-grouped and began to come back in waves and managed to tie it up, but on the counter attack, Dominic Hemphill found the net on a furious scramble with seven minutes left, assisted from Ryan McGeown and Owen Parsons to take the lead yet again.

Now it was Marshall's turn to turn on the heroics again.  With two late third period penalties, Waterloo Timber Wolves had to double their efforts and play extra hard to contain the constant Cyclone attack.  Marshall was "in the zone" and the butterfly was square to several key attackers during the kills.  Waterloo fans were running out of fingernails to chew on when the final buzzer went.

Well played game boys, against a very good team.  I certainly don't think they were expecting to come to Waterloo and leave with no points.
