Weekend Wrap-Up Jan.24, 25
This past weekend, the Wolves travelled to Hamilton to play the Huskies on Saturday before hosting Kitchener Blue at home on Sunday.

Heading to Hamilton, the Wolves knew they would be in for a tough game as Hamilton White stood at the top of the standings.  However, the team was not up for the challenge which was evident from the first shift of the game.  The Wolves were still sleeping after the drop of the puck and Hamilton was able to score just forty four seconds into the period.  They would add another goal on a powerplay before the end of the period to take a 2-0 lead.

After a slow first period, the Wolves finally played with some life to begin the second period.  This time they were able to score a quick goal to open a period, cutting the Huskies lead to one.  However, Hamilton answered quickly, scoring two minutes later to regain a two goal lead.

From there, goalie LaFlamme gave the Wolves a chance to get back in the game.  He made some timely saves keeping the game within reach.  However, the Wolves were not able to generate much except for a small push in the final five minutes of the game.  They were unable to score, making the final 3-1.

Following a loss on Saturday in which the team looked lifeless, the Wolves knew that they would need to be much better facing Kitchener Blue.  With the recent loss at the Wayne Gretzky Tournament on their minds, they knew that they would have to put lots of pucks on Kitchener’s goalie in order to win the game.  This time, the team came ready to play.  They dominated the first period generating plenty of scoring opportunities.  However, the Kitchener goalie was once again stealing the show.  Throughout the period, the Wolves continued to put pressure on the Rangers.  Finally, the team was able to put one past the Kitchener goalie on a powerplay.  Riding the momentum, the Wolves were able to add another just one minute later to take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

The Wolves continued to pressure throughout the second period.  However, they were unable to score a third goal.  Although, they were able to maintain a two goal lead as goalie Chin made a few saves when called upon.

The Wolves kept with their game plan to begin the third.  They continued to put pucks to the net and were finally able to break the game open.  The team would score two goals in two minutes to take a 4-0 lead.  However, the Wolves once again took some undisciplined penalties allowing Kitchener to get back into the game.  The Rangers would add two goals late to make things interesting, but the Wolves would take the game 4-2.

The Wolves will look to bring the same effort, with a little more discipline, to Cambidge on Friday as they begin their playoff run.  They will then host Hamilton Blue on Sunday.
