Weekend Wrap-Up Dec. 7
This past weekend the Wolves played their first of only two regular season games in the month of December at home versus the Brantford Saints.

To begin the game, neither team would take control of the play.  There were a few scoring chances at both ends, but both goalies stood tall.  Finally, just past the midway point of the first period, the Wolves were able to score giving the team a 1-0 lead.  For the remainder of the period however, they were able to generate very little in the offensive zone.

The same can be said for the second period, as the Wolves were unable to get anything going.  Although the team was clearly out shot throughout the period, the team’s defense and goalie LaFlamme were able to maintain the slim lead.  After playing much of the period in their own end the Wolves were finally rewarded for driving to the net, as the team was able to score to take a two goal lead.

Heading into the third period the Saints would not give up.  They continued to pressure the Wolves who were looking to hang on.  Just over five minutes into the period Brantford was finally able to put one past the Wolves goaltender to cut the lead to one.  The Saints continued to pressure and had the Wolves on their heels, until finally, with just over two minutes left they were able to tie the game.  At that point it looked like the Wolves were going to have to battle just to settle for a tie.  However, the team was finally awake with just over a minute remaining.  Thanks to a powerplay opportunity, the Wolves were able to show off their puck moving ability and scored a beautiful powerplay goal to regain the lead.  Just fifteen seconds later, the Wolves showed of their speed in the neutral zone and passing ability once again, scoring on a two on one to regain a two goal lead.  Brantford was able to add another goal of their own to make things interesting, but the Wolves were able to seal the deal with an empty net goal to make the final 5-3.

The Wolves will look to come out with a more complete game effort in their next game which comes Dec. 14 at home versus league leading Hamilton Blue.
