Atom Ice Wolves Champions of Bradford Tourney 2014!
This weekend the Atom Ice Wolves traveled to Bradford Ontario for a tournament and emerged as the Champions.
Parents and coaches are really proud of the effort and teamwork by the Ice Wolves this weekend. The Ice Wolves goals were scored by many different people, excellent passing and assists by our entire team, combined with great defense and fantastic goaltending keeping the goals against average low. A true team effort to be proud of!

Fridays games were fantastic for the Wolves. They took on Caledon Hawks in the morning winning (9-3), and the Bell River Canadiens in the afternoon (2-1).
Saturday was an early game against Oakville Hawks, but the boys were rearing to go and had a decisive (9-2) win. In the evening the boys played the Hespeler Shamrocks, a team they met in the Oktoberfest tournament. A close game, this one ended in a tie.(2-2)
With three wins and one tie, the Ice Wolves finished 2nd seed overall to advance to the Semi Finals. In the semi's on Sunday they played the 3rd seed Milton team, winning (5-1) to advance to the tournament Finals.

The final game on Sunday against Aurora Tigers was a fantastic game!  Both teams were well aligned in talent and effort. Both teams played a clean and respectful game of excellent hockey, making it a great game to watch! Fantastic stick handling and great passing, goals for each team were matched 1 for 1 until a final score of 4-4.
The Ice Wolves rushed in the first minute of overtime with an awesome pass from defense to forward to forward for the win! Each Player received a Gold medal and the team received a trophy cup.

The Ice Wolves showed great commitment to the tournament with their behaviour and attitudes, doing a great job representing the City of Waterloo, and the Waterloo Minor Hockey Association.
Coach Derrick says, "So proud of the Ice Wolves players. Perseverance and persistence pays off. Great effort! Go Wolves"

Many thanks to the Social Committee for arrangements made for dinners, lunches, social room; leading to many opportunities for the players and parents to get to know each other better. A fun time was had by all, and an experience these boys will probably never forget.
