Winning Weekend and Ice Wolves are in the top tier!
The Atom Ice Wolves had a tall task in front of them this weekend - to make it into the top tier for Atom MD.
They needed to win at least 2 of the 3 games, and could have no losses. None of the games would be easy, and all of the games would take a full concentrated team effort. Two games on large ice surfaces and 3 games total in one weekend...would ask them to leave everything out there on the ice.
They needed to act as a team, put in their best effort. Make good passes, play smart, communicate, and have heart.
They rose to the challenge! Great teamwork and great goaltending = success for the Ice Wolves this weekend. Way to go Ice Wolves!

At the end of the second period, the Ice Wolves were leading 2-1. Ice Wolves had excellent passes and great teamwork to keep the score at 2-1.
Timber Wolves pulled their goalie in the last few minutes, but Ice Wolves held together. Some key saves from the goalie and the Ice Wolves won against the Timber Wolves.

Sunday afternoon the Ice Wolves traveled to Woodstock arena to play the Navy Jets. It was an intense and very lively game. Woodstock was not going to make it easy, and the Ice Wolves had to win to stay in the top tier.
Right from the first period the goalies were seeing alot of action, but Ice Wolves offense revved things up with a beautiful goal up the left side!
Excellent teamwork and multiple chances against the largest goalie in the league, and the Ice Wolves were able to put another one in.
Woodstock was not ready to give up and put every effort and some 'body' into the game, turning up the pressure and tied up the game. With 2 minutes left the Ice Wolves responded and took the lead.
Teamwork and great goaltending held the line, even when Woodstock pulled their goalie. Ice Wolves won, 3-2.
