Peewee Wolves come out strong in home opener
From Team Correspondent Curtis:

Good evening folks, and thanks for tuning in to Sports Desk. Tonight we're reporting on Sunday's major peewee select game where the Waterloo Wolves squared-off against the Halton Hills Thunder. This was only the second game of the season for the Wolves since taking a hard loss in Burlington the week before. Let's see how this game played out.

In the first period we see Emmett taking the start and he gets tested early on with a nice body save. Halfway into the period we have a play where Peter receives a nice pass, takes it deep into the Halton end, sees an opening and passes it to Josh, a shot, and...saved. Soon after we see Casey B with a strong play. He dekes around both defensive players, a shot, and a dandy of a goal on the long side. What a shot! The rest of the period is played in the Waterloo end, and Emmett keeps all comers at bay, along with the help of some strong defensive lines.

The second period starts with a scramble in the Waterloo end, but the puck stays out. Now the play goes to the Halton end. Peter skates wide, sends a beauty of a backhand pass to Curtis, the shot, but saved by the Halton goalie. The Waterloo team looked a little sluggish in the first period but they are now starting to put some plays together. Here's Casey B with the puck, he passes it to Colin. Colin dances into the Halton end, he eyes-up the net, waits patiently for the opening, the shot, and....scores! Not too much later we see Halton with a strong offensive play. They get close to the net but are shut down by some aggressive back-checking by Dion. Halfway through the period we have a goalie-switch, with Alex coming in to play the second half of the game. Late in the second period Halton goes into the box for hooking Josh. Waterloo is on the powerplay and sends the three forwards deep into the Halton end. Dion passes it to Peter, then Peter to Josh. Josh slips toward the net, and taps it in on the open side, making it 3-0 for Waterloo by the end of the second.

Now for the third period. Carter is showing some real strength here. Early in the period he fires off a nice shot but the goalie makes the stick save. Josh flies toward the rebound but can't quite get to it. And here's Carter going deep again, sends a pass to Peter, the shot, but saved again. Curtis gets a shot off, but that too gets saved. Halton goes on the offence but Bryce finds just a little more speed than the Halton forwards can muster and he strips the puck away, shutting down a possible Halton shot. Soon after that, Ben does the same, effectively keeping the hounds at bay. Now with 37 seconds left in the game, Spencer makes a pass to Peter, the shot, and...GOAL! What a beauty of a shot, and Waterloo wins it 4 - 0. Nice job by everyone.
