Semi-Finals vs Whitby Wildcats
It was a battle of the cats and dogs today as the Waterloo Wolves took on the Whitby Wildcats. Both teams had great plans of making it to the finals for the Ace Bailey tournament in Stoney Creek; however, only one team would advance.

Waterloo came out strong in the first period. No slow start this morning! The team looked renewed with a focus and determination that impressed the spectators and coaches. As the first period began, Beckner #4, scored an early goal to give the Wolves the lead. With a lot of back and forth the score remained 1-0 for Waterloo until deep into the second period. Both teams were playing aggressively, knowing that they had to give it their all to advance to the finals. Well done Wolves defence for clearing the puck and battling at the boards. Rudolph, #9, was strong at the blue line and made some great passes into the Whitby zone to set up for some scoring opportunities. Schaefer, #44, dug deep into the corners to pressure the Whitby forwards, while Arnold, #68, used his size and strength in front of our net to shield some shot attempts. Wolves forwards should also be commended for their speed and passing. Hancock, #2, came back on several occasions to support the defence, while C. Eamer, #66 and D. Eamer, #22, used their speed and agility to chip the puck in and chase it down to set up for some spectacular shot attempts on the Wildcats' net. All the Wolves played well today and should be proud of their solid effort. With a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation time meant that the game would go into overtime periods. Fundamental hockey skills were displayed by both teams. Labrie #27, had an amazing shot that rang off the post and then again into the pads of the massive Wildcats' goalie. Jyrkama #10, had some fancy skating and poise as he lined up but it just wasn't meant to happen today.  Final score 2-1 for Whitby.
