Toronto Red Wings Early Bird Tournament
Success at the Toronto Red Wings Early Bird Tournament Sept 7-9, 2018
Following a strong pre-season including 4 exhibition game wins at RIM Park in August, the Wolves Minor Bantam AAA boys entered the Toronto Red Wings Early Bird Tournament to begin the season.
Coach Townsend and the staff took the boys for a fun weekend of bonding with team mates as room mates and the responsibilities associated with not having parents at the hotel. By everyone's account it was a fantastic weekend of both team bonding, and of growing in personal responsibility and accountability.
On the ice, the team managed round robin wins over the Ajax-Pickering Raiders, the Toronto Red Wings, and the Chicago Young Americans along with a tie vs the Niagara North Stars which placed them 1st in their division and 4th overall among 31 teams.
Although their quarter-final game vs highly ranked Detroit Little Caesars resulted in a 4-2 loss, the boys achieved one of their primary goals of earning playoff spot to play on Sunday.
Thanks again to the coaching staff: Todd Townsend, Rob Waters, Andrew Brumwell, Shawn Way and Megan Van Mol for taking the boys all weekend. Awesome memories - and a great way to begin the season.
