Wolves continue strong play
The Peewee Gold team posted 2 more victories over the weekend.
Saturday night the boys travelled to London to face the Jr. Knights White team. London jumped out to an early 1-0 lead before Near jumped on a rebound from Hillier and tied the game up 1-1. Waterloo went up 2-1 when Scott fed Henderson on a 2 on 1 and Henderson fired past the Knights goalie. The boys continued to pressure London and Diebolt had a great deflection on a low hard point shot by Markle, putting them up 3-1. Penalty trouble began for the Wolves in the 3rd and the Knights were able to get 2 past Bosomworth to tie the score up at 3. Waterloo responded on a power play of their own as Scott took a feed from Henderson to put them up 4-3. With 2 late penalties and the Knights pulling their goalie, Waterloo and Bosomworth weathered a mighty 6 on 3 storm to hold on for a 4-3 great team win!
Sunday had the team welcome the London Bandits. The Bandits jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the sleepy Wolves. Bauer opened the scoring for the Wolves picking up a pass from Hepditch to tie the score at 1. Diebolt then set up Near to make it 2-1, but the Bandits responded and tied it up 2-2. Schneider put the Wolves up for good when he picked up a rebound off a Hillier shot and banged it home for a 3-2 lead. Bandits goalies kept the game close, but Waterloo prevailed 3-2.
Next up is a battle with Kitchener Red on Friday night.
