MINOR MIDGET AAA WOLVES ADVANCE TO ALLIANCE SEMI FINALS
On Thursday night the Waterloo Minor Midget AAA Wolves beat Elgin 4-1 to sweep the series 3 games to nothing.
The series was a hard fought series and Elgin played three strong games aginst Waterloo. In Game #1 Waterloo won 2-1. Goals by Boris Katchouk and Brett Schaefer proved enough as Steve Nelson was strong in goal making some key saves and Waterloo's PK was very solid.
In Game 2 they traelled to Komoka and again in another very tough abttle the Wolves prevailed 2-1. Goal scorers were again Katchouk and Scahefer. Chan was solid in net and once againt he PK of Waterloo made a huge difference
In Game 3 Elgin came out very strong as fighting for their playoff lives. Early on Steve Nelson made some timely saves and mid way thru the first period Brendan Schneider scored on the PP to give them a 1-0 lead. Elgin tied it up midway thru the 2nd period but then the line of Schneider, Katchouk and Chase Campbell scored 2 goals in 22 seconds. First one by Campbell and next one from Schneider. The 3rd period might have been the Wolves best period of the series and only allowed 4 shots against and they added one more goal from Eric Kim to give them and 4-1 lead and in the end a 4-1 win.
Waterloo now advances to the semi finals and await their opponents
