Another Great Face-Off Video
Coach Rob has found another great video to illustrate some great techniques when it comes to winning face-offs.
This video should be watched and understood by all of us. We want the puck and it starts with any face-off. It's a small part of what we do but a big part of the game. Wingers, we've noticed that if you happen to take a face-off when we're short handed that we lose a lot of these face-offs. If you want to be on the ice for the penalty kill you had better understand the importance of this face-off and the proper technique to win the face-off. These are techniques that can be practiced at home and not just at the rink. And yes, unfortunately Steckel is now a Leaf but his stats speak for themselves. Last year I believe he lead the league in face-off percentage. That's a good thing to have when you need to win a face-off at the end of a game.
