Wolves split over the weekend
The Waterloo Wolves won one and lost one over the weekend. In their first game against Georgetown, Waterloo's Michael Digravio opened the scoring when he dove and swiped the puck up & over the outstretched goalie. Xander Boston earned the assist on the goal. Georgtown evened the score on a short handed goal, but it did not last long as Nathan Wiersma gave the Wolves the lead again as he battled for the rebound and buried the puck from just outside the crease. Devan Stemmler earned the assist. Both Waterloo goalies, Samuel Fenton & Matthew Chan, made key saves to preserve the lead. Waterloo kept the pressure on and were rewarded when Stemmler shot the puck from a bad angle & the puck rebounded off the back of the netminder to give the Wolves a 2 goal lead. Georgetown scored late in the game, but Waterloo was able to hang on for the 3-2 victory. Waterloo then traveled to Hamilton where they lost 3-1 to Chedoke. Ben Campbell scored the lone goal for the Wolves. Assisting were Michael DiGravio & David Monteyne.
