Wolves Finding Their Groove Again
It took time for the Waterloo Wolves players to get their legs back and find the intensity needed to play a complete game after the lockdown, but with back-to-back wins it appears they players have finally picked up where they left off.

This latest 5 to 3 victory over the Cambridge Hawks was a redemption of sorts in that the Hawks were the team that took away their unbeaten record in league play.

Declan Uniac continued to put the puck in the net for the Wolves scoring twice in the game. His first goal was set up from Cole Hunsberger and Matthew Ball and his second was from Hunsberger and Jaxon Broda. The Wolves first goal that set the tone was from Griffin Beddis and assisted by Cole Ledgister and Jackson McNichol. Ledgister added a goal on a nice move in a lone after Ben Yonge sent him in for a breakaway. Ball added the final goal from Uniac.

Credit to the Hawk players for continually attacking and trying to get behind the Wolves defenders. Cooper Gaul, Riley Webster and Jackson Deitz had to step up and make sure the team never allowed the relentless opponents back into the game.

Another reason the Hawks couldn’t claw back into the game was the play of the Wolves goalie, Jack Driscoll, who made timely saves and was quick to smother any loose pucks and not allow the Hawks to cycle in their zone.

Once again Michael Wei, Ethan Wasylyshyn and Jackson Andrews provided the energy and took on the bulk of the penalty kill for the forwards. The trio have played hard minutes in the past two games and have been huge for the teams’ success. Tim Hodson was another stand out and his commitment to back checking was clutch for his team.

Next up the Wolves face the Brantford 99ers and will need to be ready to play a hard and physical game using their speed to get another key win.

Go Wolves.
