Waterloo Minor Atom MD Wolves firing on all cylinders as the season begins!
The Waterloo Wolves Minor Atom MD team exploded out of the blocks, kicking off the regular season with a 4-game unbeaten streak, taking their overall unbeaten streak to 9 after bringing home the Championship in the Milton Tournament...

The boys first found themselves up against two teams from Burlington and managed a decisive win against the Reds, and two against the Whites.  The boys showed patience and the ability to control the tempo of the game.  With those wins, the Wolves would face off against Kitchener Rangers Red, and what would result would be an exciting back and forth game of hard work and skillful determination. Sam M and Josh C would play impeccably between the pipes, tossing aside a total of 29 shots.   Down in the Ranger’s end, the Wolves would pour on rush after rush, creating excellent chances, but were also unable to convert any into a goal.  As such, the game would end in a 0-0 tie.  The Wolves and Ranger’s coaches met to shake hands after the game and enthusiastically agreed that barn burners like this are what help these boys build character, and remind us all why hockey is the best game in the world!

Last weekend, the boys embarked on their first team building exercise of the year.  The Wolves would find themselves being hunted down by two trained horseback riders in a 4 km ManTracker game.  The boys split into 4 groups, and spent their time negotiating trails, forest, and marsh land, all while being hunted by the tracking horseback riders.  The kids became stealth bullets to avoid detection, ducking behind whatever was available for cover. When the coast was clear, they would take to the trail (or create their own!) at full speed to cover as much ground as possible while the horses were off hunting another group.  In the end, the boys, two coaches, and two parent volunteers made it to the finish point soaking wet, muddy, out of breath, but with a grin on their faces from ear to ear.  Thank you to the social committee for setting up this fun event!

Next weekend the Wolves take to the road to play the Cambridge Hawks and will have a second engagement with Burlington Bulldogs Red.

Congratulations Gentlemen on an exciting start to the season, keep up the hard work and determination!
