A Big Win and a Tubing Trip to Chicopee!
The Novice Select Wolves welcomed the Hamilton Lawfield Thunder into the Wolf Den for a Saturday evening game...

Lawfield would come out strong in the first period, controlling the pace and making the wolves scramble time and time again in their own end.  Joshua C. faced what was likely his toughest test of the season, and came up with some serious saves to keep the Thunder off the board. Finally, as the first period was coming to a close, the wolves started to gain their composure, and Lucas T. opened up with a nice breakaway goal.  The second period saw the Wolves play like the Wolves can play - they picked up the pace and started to control the puck.  Lucas would net another, followed by Callum T. and then by Gavin A.  In the second half of the game, Deio G. demonstrated some acrobatics by making 2 stops in particular that seemed like sure goals.  The Thunder would relight their fire, scoring 2 goals, but it was not enough, and the Wolves would finish with a 4-2 win.  The player of the game went to Eason Y. who played his most aggressive match of the season, creating some nice turnovers and setting the stage for 2 of our goals.

Today, the boys met up at the Chicopee tubing hill for a fun-filled afternoon.  The boys would not let a little freezing rain get in their way.  The extra speed that they attained on the hill, and in some cases, the crash into the large bags at the end, made for some exciting rides.  Deio G. in particular got to experience what it’s like going doubles with an adult – him and coach James rocketed through the bags and ended up well beyond where they should have.   Coach Marc and Melissa decided that if having 1 adult in a two person group can make you go fast, two adults should be even more fun.  They ended up somewhere near the 401 when they finally came to a stop. We then gathered in the Chalet for a pizza lunch.  With most parents looking to head home, the kids decided that they all needed to challenge the hill another few times.  As such, we pushed our stay up to the very limits of the time printed on our tubing passes.  Thanks to Susan and Jane for organizing this fun event!!

The wolves take to the road on Friday against Ancaster, and then will play host to the St. Thomas Stars on Saturday evening.
