Novice Select Wolves end regular season on a 6 game unbeaten streak!
The Wolves ended off the regular season on top of their game, going undefeated in the last 6 and are mighty hungry for what’s to come…

On February 16 the boys took to the road to do battle with the Ancaster Avalanche.   They faced a tough Ancaster goalie, but controlled the tempo and managed to put 2 in between the pipes.  Deio G and Joshua C earned the shutout, while Terry L took the player of the game for showing his best hussle of the season.  The next day, the boys welcomed the St. Thomas Stars to Waterloo for an evening match-up.  The boys set the tempo early, with multiple goals scored by all shifts.  Sacha W played his strongest game of the season, showing great stride both offensively and defensively and earned the player of the game for his efforts.

On February 25 the Wolves took to the road again to play the Hamilton Lawfield Thunder for the second time this season.  With the Wolves winning the first engagement, Lawfield would come out strong hoping to score the first goal.  Those hopes would be dashed as the Wolves would score 2, one in the first and one in the second period of play.  Lawfield kept the pressure on, out-shooting the Wolves, but the Waterloo defense was keen to not allow shots in close, and make sure they controlled the rebounds.  Finally, as the second period was nearing its end, Lawfield put one on the board, followed by another in the third period.  Despite intense pressure from both sides the game would remain at 2-2, The Wolves first tie of the season.  The story of the game for Waterloo was their defense, with Nash M turning in his best performance of the season.  Accordingly, he was awarded player of the game for his determined and aggressive defensive play.

On March 03, the Wolves played host to the Brantford 99’ers, and had their much anticipated Parent ‘game-day experience’.  Novice Select Parents got to see first-hand the boy’s pre- and post-game routines.  They were all sworn to secrecy, lest the Wolves strategy end up in enemy hands, but they left the room star-struck at the discipline and focus that the boys show when it’s time to put their game faces on.  During the match, the Wolves contolled the puck well, and Sacha W. managed his first hat-trick of the season.

Last night, the boys traveled to Brantford for the second game of their home and home against the 99’ers.  This time, the boys would come out flying, not only controlling the pace, but making some of the nicest passes of the season in the offensive zone. In the end, Lucas T and Callum T both managed hat-tricks en route to a Waterloo win.  The player of the game went to Owen N. who showed excellent patience and puck control on offense, and gave his all every shift.

Well done Wolves!  The boys now travel to Niagara Falls for the Ange Giajnorio Memorial Winter Thaw Tournament.
