Novice Gold Wolf Pack Attack
Novice Gold released a "Wolf Pack Attack" in Kitchener on Sunday, to steal the win and secure a 4-point weekend. As a result the Wolves remain undefeated and hang on to first place in the playoff seeding round.
On Saturday at Albert West versus Hamilton Blue, Wyatt M. scored 2 goals in the first to give the Wolves an early lead. The Wolves would pile 4 more goals in the second and another 4 in the third for the 10-0 win. Cam M. and Emre A. had 2 goals each with Grayson S., Liam M., Rohan J. and Liam C. adding singles. Gavin S. led a solid defensive effort with heads up passing, and Ty B. shut the door for the shut out.
On Sunday, the Wolves travelled to Activa to face arch-rival Kitchener Red. Kitchener cam out flying in the early going with a shot wired to the top shelf and added a misdirected pass to put the Wolves down 2-0 after the first. In the second, the Red Rangers would run into penalty trouble, but despite the shift in momentum, they kept the Wolves off the scoreboard. "Bo Dangles" Liam C. would drive hard to the net and put a backhander upstairs to make it 2-1. Kitchener then restored their 2 goal lead in the first shift of the 3rd with a bounce off a Wolves defender.
With the clock starting to dwindle down and hope beginning to fade, Grayson S. would initiate the "Wolf Pack Attack" with a rush and blast upstairs to give the Wolves a spark with 2:31 left in the game. Next shift, the Wolves crashed the net with Hunter C. chipping in the equalizer with 1:25 left. The Wolves would continue the attack, and just 14s later Red Ranger killer Ryder H. scored to give the Wolves a 4-3 win. Matthew P. led a solid defensive effort, while Boyd S. remained focused despite some bad luck and made a series of key saves to keep the Wolves in the game.
