Gold Take "Tragically Hip Way" to Kingston Tourney Title
Novice Gold rolled into Kingston Friday after a late night in Ottawa to play in the Kingston Canadians Tournament. The Wolves would honour Gord Downie by playing only the "Hip" for pregame tunes. Although they would win both games Friday, they look tired at times. On their route to their downtown hotel on Friday night, Novice Gold drove down "Tragically Hip Way" before regrouping and getting some sleep.
Saturday morning ,some of the Wolves would take a pregame walk to the Kingston market to view and sign the Gord Downie memorial before heading back to the rink for games against two teams that also went undefeated on Friday. The Wolves would beat Leitrim Hawks and sneak out a win versus Casselman-Embrum to lock up first place in the round robin and seimifinal game versus 4th place.
On Sunday, the Wolves looked refreshed from a good nights sleep, and overpowered Stittsville in the semis to book a rematch against Casselman-Embrum. In the 2pm final, the Wolves came out with their best game of the tournament to get the win and take home the title.
The Wolves play league games next weekend against Kitchener Blue and Brantford.
