The boys had a difficult weekend losing to the Hamilton Huskies and the Brantford 99ers.
In Hamilton, we encountered a very 'feisty' group of boys and we just couldn't manage their speed or aggression. It was a great learning experience for the boys and I'm sure we will give them a much stronger game the next time we face them. Although we lost 5-0, there were two very bright spots in the lineup. We had very strong performances from our Dynamic Duo in net, Sam & Griffen!! If not for some acrobatics and amazing glove saves, the score may have been much worse.
On Sunday, we faced a much more equal opponent in the Brantford 99ers. The game was filled with end-to-end action with goalies from both teams making amazing saves. After 2 periods, the score was tied 1-1. Then the real action began. With Brantford winning 3-2, the Wolves tied the game with just over 3 minutes remaining in the game. After a flurry of action in the neutral zone, Brantford ended up getting a breakaway with seconds remaining in the game. With one final desperate shot, Brantford went ahead 4-3 with only 6 seconds left in the game. It was a heart-breaking defeat, but the boys displayed a much stronger effort than the previous day. Although all the boys worked much harder, Ian really stood out with his tenacity, hard-work and 'never say die' attitude.
Next up is our tournament in St Catharines!!!
Keep working boys and WIN THE RACE!!!
