Season ends, but what a season!
On Sunday, the 2011-2012 Waterloo Ice Wolves season ended with a 5-1 loss to the Hamilton Cyclones in the Tier 1 Playdowns....
The score did not reflect the outcome, as the Ice Wolves never gave up and continued to test the Cyclones defense, but could not get the puck over the red line until midway though the 3rd period. Ben Tomka scored his first play-off goal as Cameron Young and Kevin Gruber had the assists.
This was the team's 55th game of the year (the most by any MD team) and as the game ended, every Ice Wolve skated ot center ice and raised their sticks towards their parents in apprecation for everything they did this season. As the team looked around in the dressing room, some had tears and some realized that this was the last game as a team. After the coaches speech, they gave one last "Wata, Wata, Wata", then smiled and realized that they had one fantastic season. Finalist in the Georgina Regional Silver Stick, Champions in the 13th Annual Pelham International Silver Stick and the 54th Annual Preston International Tournament, but more importantly- every player developed and learned to win or lose as a team.
Thanks for all the memories
