The Waterloo Wolves’ winning streak reached five games with
a 4 to 2 win over the Stratford Warriors and a 6 to 1 win over the Cambridge
Hawks.
The Wolves will look to extend that streak in Brantford on a
rare Wednesday night game. The games two points are not the only motivation in
the game as the 99ers are a team the Wolves are directly in competition with
for playoff seeding.
Against the Warriors, Reed Rozema opened the scoring from
Casey Ross and Allan Wang. Grayson Seiling scored from Dell Wang and Owen
Ottens before Ottens scored from Wang, D and Ross. Carter Talboom continued his
scoring streak with an unassisted goal.
Against the Hawks, Wang, D scored from Wang, A and Seiling.
Ross scored by Ben Schofield and Logan Murtha. Ross added a second goal from
Antonio Parisi and Ottens. Rozema also scored twice his first goal set up by
Hiatt Rich and Cole Gardiner and his second from Ottens. Christopher Ding
capped off the scoring with a nice rush and deke snapping it home from Rozema.
The team was still missing some key players with Cam Murray,
Logan Landry, Jackson Hunter and Ciaran Guitton-Quayle out of the line up but welcomed
Ben Sawyer back and he added a lot of physicality and solidified the defense.
Once again, the Wolves were fortunate to have Rowan McGill
back up Jake Howard. Howard has been playing every game as the Wolves need
every possible point to set themselves up best in the playoffs. Howard has done
a fantastic job holding down the fort and making sure his team has a chance in
every game.
The season is down to 5 games before playoffs and the Wolves
have yet to play a game with a full squad. The coaches are hopeful the team
will head to the playoffs with a full line up but also have confidence that the
players, however many, will be ready to battle.
Let’s finish off strong and get that banner, Wolves!
