For whatever reason the Waterloo Wolves have a history of eventful
games in St. Thomas and never are the events pleasant.
On the bright side, this wasn’t a disastrous game due to questionable
refereeing. I mean, it wasn’t perfect, but it wasn’t what past games were. This
time, it was a mental collapse by the Wolves resulting in a 5 to 4 loss in a
game the Wolves led all the way until roughly 30 seconds remaining.
Cam Murray has been playing amazing hockey in the past few
weeks and put together another multi-goal game. Murray opened the scoring from
Hiatt Rich and closed the scoring from Rich. Anthonio Parisi had a beautiful
solo goal, and Carter Talboom lit the lamp from Reed Rozema and Ben Schofield.
The Wolves carried the play most of the game and saw great plays from Casey Ross,
Grayson Seiling and Allan Wang up front. Owen Ottens returned from injury and
the Wolves used Jimmy Provencher as an AP player to round up the defense with
Cole Gardiner in his usual spot.
The game also cost the Wolves one of their star goalies,
Ciaran Guitton-Quayle, who overextended his leg stretching to make a marvelous,
but costly, save early in the game. Guitton-Quayle fought through and finished
the game but is now the latest Wolve to hit the injured reserved. A popular
place for players this season.
On the bright side, the team is set to see Christopher Ding
return this weekend. Logan Murtha, Logan Landry and Dell Wang are not too far
behind either. The team hopes to get some good news on Jackson Hunter and Ben
Sawyer in the new year as well.
In what has been a trying season to date, the players have
poured their heart and soul into games and have done a great job playing so short
handing. Here is to finish 2025 without any more injuries and to health in
2026!!!!
A coach can dream Afterall!
