Before heading into the Christmas
and New Year break, the Waterloo Wolves captured their league leading 8th
straight victory with an impressive 4 to 2 win of the league’s top seed, London
Jr Knights Green.
The Wolves hold two games in hand
and sit 4 points behind the Knights for top spot in Alliance. With another game
coming up against London Green, the team will look to steal another 2 points,
win the season series and march towards their first goal of winning the league.
Their 12 wins are second, only to the Knights, and their winning percentage is
over 0.800 sitting at 0.813 for their highest of the season.
On behalf of the coaching staff, a
huge thank you and tip of the hat to the players. Their work ethic and attitudes
have been top notch. They have created one of the tightest teams I have been
involved with and are making the season extremely fun to be part of the team. Well
done, Wolves.
The score was opened by Jack Mayne
from Ben Morton and Reed Rozema. Allan Wang scored from Evan Walsh and Jack
Gardner. Morton scored from Connor Wilson and Mayne. Wilson scored from Jacob Shaughnessy
and Keegan Weatherdon.
With a relentless attack, the Wolves
forwards came in waves with a balanced roster. Casey Ross and Ethan Kralik had
fantastic games in all three zones and continued to look dangerous with Wang.
On the defensive side, Jack Smith and Logan Murtha continued to play their best
hockey of the season. Owen Miloje controlled the play in the Wolves end and
Christopher Ding was steady as you could ask a defender.
As has been the case all season, the
Wolves goaltending was stellar. The team benefits from two very good goalies
and in this game, Jake Howard was once again outstanding.
In 2025, the Wolves will open the
year with a game against the Sarnia Sting at home and will head to Stratford
before going to play in an Outdoor Classic in the United States! Hope everyone
had a safe and wonderful holiday season and look forward to more victories by
the Wolves!
