Leads were given away like candy at
Halloween in Stratford Wednesday night, as the Waterloo Wolves and Stratford
Warriors battled out to a 5 to 5 tie.
Both teams found themselves ahead at
times in the game, and both teams saw mistakes end up in the back of their net
to draw even. Time after time.
Owen Miloje cashed in a four-point
night for the Wolves with a goal and 3 assists. Miloje assisted on the game’s
first goal by Casey Ross with Ben Morton also getting an assist. Reed Rozema
scored from Jacob Shaughnessy and Allan Wang and then Shaughnessy motored
around the Warrior defender to add a goal from Miloje. Miloje scored an
unassisted deflection and then picked up his third assist on a Wang goal with
Logan Murtha also drawing an assist. Jake Howard earned the tie for the Wolves.
The Wolves have looked to get some
consistency from their players lately, and tried several line combinations to
spark players, shifting wingers through Morton, Shaughnessy and Ethan Kralik. The
team united Keegan Weatherdon with Connor Wilson and Shaughnessy as the “high
school” line. They generated opportunities and showed some chemistry. Jack Mayne
stayed with Morton but moved to the right side and Ross slid onto that line.
Wang had a strong game and formed a line with Kralik and Rozema who has been on
fire.
The injurie issues continued for the
team and Evan Walsh missed the game. Luckily for the Wolves, Christopher Ding
returned to the line up joining Jack Gardner, Jack Smith, Miloje and Murtha.
This weekend will give the Wolves
another chance to find their game in the Waterloo Memorial Tournament where the
boys will be the hosts and enjoy the U18 AAA dressing room. Keep focused and
working hard boys!
