With the success of supporting Abdul and his surgery, each team member of the young Wolves team were able to raise enough funds to pay for a SECOND Draft pick with surgery for
Baby Pooka! With the team drafting ANOTHER young Wolf, it is this 1 month old boy named, Pooka. He was born with two clubfeet that need correcting. The process for a baby with clubfeet is to go in weekly for manipulations and castings to slowly reposition the feet. Then he'll have a tenotomy to lengthen the achilles tendons. After they heal he'll enter the bracing phase of treatment which is full time for 3 months and then bracing at night until he's 4 years old.
1:1000 babies born in Canada or around the world are born with a clubfoot. In Uganda the treatment is not always available and costs too much money which is why kids end up without corrections.
With treatment underway, it's a lot but if they follow this treatment he will have a 95% chance of walking normally without any issues compared with a life of disability.
We are honoured to wear the Wolves logo on our chests, but when we get to share our hard work with children around the world, and provide an opportunity to their lives to be fulfilled with joy, we are truly humbled.
We Believe!!
