Home & Away Series vs Kitchener Jr Rangers Red
It is always a great game of hockey when Waterloo faces off against Kitchener and this weekend was no different! The Wolves began their busy weekend with an away game against Kitchener Jr. Rangers Red and it was an epic battle.

Things started off a little shaky for the Wolves with a few equipment issues but Waterloo is resilient and resourceful, managing to piece together their solution to ensure all players were able to hit the ice. From the first puck drop you could tell that Waterloo meant business. The player knew that they would need to play a strong game of hockey against this tough Kitchener team if they were to earn points in the standings. At this point, it isn't just making it to the next round, it is which spot will they secure to ensure their best chance to advance to the Alliance championships. The Wolves played with heart and grit and their level of intensity only increased as the game progressed. Kitchener was the first to find the net and at the end of the first period, the score was 1-0 in favour of the opponent. Waterloo did not sit back and continued to put pressure on the Jr. Rangers forwards; however at times, their speed and passing allowed them to advance into our zone. Late in the second period Kitchener managed to put in two more goals, causing Waterloo to be behind 3-0 at the end of two periods of play. A weaker team may have given up at this point, but NOT the Wolves! They battled back in the third period with a level of play that impressed spectators and coaches. #5 Tiegs fired one from the blue, surprising the Kitchener goalie into submission. The second goal for Waterloo was thanks to the efforts of three separate players: #88 McMurry wound up from the point, #44 Dupuis-Bissonnette tap the puck into the pads of the Rangers goalie as #3 Miller dug for the loose puck to poke it in. In the final minutes of the third period #68 Reesor stripped the puck from a Kitchener player in our zone and with a quick pass to #7 Williams who charged down the ice, goal number three was sealed!! Final score would be an impressive 3-3 tie, especially considering the Wolves were outshot. Fantastic work by Waterloo goalie #31 B. McLeod to keep the team in it.
Round two, with a home game at Mercedes Benz KW Ice, would prouve to be a bit more of a challenge.  Kitchener came out strong in the first period, earning two goals. The Wolves battled back in the second period, matching the Rangers goal count and stepping up the pace of the game. #66 Anderson and #2 Hancock combined as the dynamic duo for this game earning the only goals and assists for the team. With a combination of intercepted passes, funny puck bounces and scrambles in our zone, Kitchener was able to put in three more goals before the final buzzer. The Wolves would not earn the two points they were hoping for in this game but they certainly acquired the desire and urge to win in their third game of the weekend against Waterloo Black. Go Waterloo White Go!!
