This past weekend, we traveled to Mississauga to
participate in the Early Bird AA tournament. The tournament consists of many of the top teams in Ontario and provided a very competitive environment for the Minor Midget AA Wolves.
Their first game of the tournament vs. the West Mall Lightning also gave the boys their first win of the season thanks to an exciting go-ahead goal scored with under a minute left in the third.
Game 2 vs. the Streetsville Tigers was a physical, hard-fought battle that ended in a close 2-1 loss.
Despite battling traffic and closures on the 401, the Wolves came out strong on Saturday afternoon with a 4-2 win over the Mississauga Jets.
In a must-win game for both teams, the Wolves faced off against the Mississauga North Stars on Saturday evening. After 3 quick goals by the North Stars, the Wolves found their stride and began to battle back. They skated hard, blocked shots, and had some great chances, but ultimately fell 4-0 to the eventual tournament winners.
Thank you to everyone for a great weekend! From the delicious and hilarious potluck and team meals to the camaraderie and learning, it was a wonderful time all around. Looking forward to the rest of the season with all of you.
A note from Coach Mike: I was proud of how our team competed, and although this is still early in the development process for our team, we have shown that we can compete. We've had lots of hockey so far and the season hasn't even begun. We have two days of rest, so come to the next practice ready to work hard!
